Installing pip, virtualenv and virtualenvwrapper

As recommended in a public announcement

cd into a directory where distribute_setup.py can be downloaded and executed.

$ wget http://python-distribute.org/distribute_setup.py
$ sudo python distribute_setup.py
$ sudo easy_install pip
$ sudo pip install virtualenv
$ sudo pip install virtualenvwrapper
